Unable to determine Qualified Domain Name

Greetings,

Upon install of InterWorx-CP, I get the following message in various places:
iworx-web: Could not determine the server’s fully qualified domain name, using 127.0.0.1 for ServerName

The OS is CentOS 4.2:
[root@mcu ~]# uname -a
Linux mcu 2.6.9-22.ELsmp #1 SMP Sat Oct 8 19:11:43 CDT 2005 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux

Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

Eric,

Make sure you have a /etc/hosts entry for 127.0.0.1. It normally looks like this in /etc/hosts:

127.0.0.1 <server>.<domain> <server> localhost.localdomain localhost

Chris

Chris,

Thank you! That was it exactly! Was going bonkers with creating a /etc/HOSTNAME and using the “domainname” CLI tool and no go.

One other query, which does InterWorx-CP integrate with better, ModernBill or AWBS? I have AWBS currently, but I’m finding it to be more tailored to CPanel then anything. I’m open to suggestions.

Thank you,

I hope you don’t mind my chiming in here but I have actual experience with both of these and while MB is more complicated to actually set up overall I found that the actual integration with Iworx was easier with MB than with Drams. With MB it looked like Iworx integration was just part of the system and with Drams/AWBS it seemed like an afterthought. With either of them the actual ordering system seemed equally smoote once you had them set up.

These docs are old (written for Iworx 1.9 and the Old Drams AWBS is just updated Drams) but may help you some:
