https sites without SSL certs

,

Hi,

I am new to interworx and currently testing a demo version of the software. We are looking at a replacement for Plesk and one of the features (for better or for worse) is that you don’t need an SSL certificate to activate the https://www.domain.com - it will just work with a security warning. To clarify, sites that should have an SSL will have an SSL, this is just for some personal sites that don’t require a certificate but it is nice to have the site still work if a user accidentally goes to the https version of the site.

Having tried C-Panel I know this is something that they can’t cater for and I wondered if this was possible to set up with SiteWorx?

Any help or pointers would be grateful.

Thanks

Ben

Hi Socrates

Wellcome to IW forums.
Yes, IW can use SNI, which you can enable or disable, for shared SSL, and also you can have dedicated IP to use for SSL.
To enable, login to nodeworx, server, settings, and towards the bottom, you will see option for SNI.
Please read this post though, as it can appear not to work as expected, but after reading this post you should understand SNI SSL.
Also, you may want to look through the forum here, for tips and advice to have you running more professionally.
I hope you enjoy IW, but any problems, please post or open a support ticket.
Many thanks
John

Hi Socrates

Sorry, you would need to create a self signed SSL cert from siteworx account per domain to access the correct https website, otherwise it will default to first alpha of SSL.
It’s easy to do and takes seconds though, siteworx, domain, SSL, create private key, create CSR, create SSL Cert - job done.
Many thanks
