Centos 4.1 i386, x86_64?

I just built a new server, and I’ve decided to use Centos 4.1. Now my question is what is the difference between i386 and x86_64 (advantages, disadvantages?) and which is best to work with a Celeron D 2.4. In the BIOS next to processor type it states EM64 capable. Also I tried to use the kickstart installation for cos4x, but I got an error saying that it could retrieve the files. Is this something on my side or on interworx’s side?

Thanks,
Brian

The 1st Celeron D that is EM64 is the Intel? Celeron? D processor 326 (at 2.53Mhz). The one clocked at 2.4Ghz (Intel? Celeron? D processor 320) is not EM64 cabable.

As far as advantages are concerned… 64bit is offcourse preferred over any 32bit arcitecture, if supported by the CPU. IWorx doesn’t have any special packages available for EM64/IA64, but does’t need to as they are ‘No Arch’ i.e. don’t care about the architecture since they’re only php scripts
