Hello,

I’d like to redirect a siteworx subdomain to an other no siteworx sub domain

By example :
siteworx subdomain : sub1.domain.com
Other subdomaine : other.free.com

To do this I have created a CNAME in the DNS account
sub1.domaine.com CNAME other.free.com

It doesn’t work

When I do a dig I have :

1/ So my question is : how to redirect this subdomaine or domaine to an external domain (like an inversed pointer)

I’ve created these dns record for this account
xxxxx1-g.free.fr A 212.xxx.xxx.209
other.free.fr CNAME xxxxx1-g.free.fr.
sub1.domaine.com CNAME xxxxx1-g.free.fr

As I not sure it is called like this in english I’m going to explain this :

I mean, by example

In the navigator the url will be

Using CNAME records will make the redirection “invisible” to most users. The web site you are redirecting to will need to understand the faked domain name though. Some software (like a good deal of CMS’s) set a link base which includes the domain name as configured. This means as soon as someone clicks a link the plot is exposed.

What you have done should work. Your dig output shows this. You are bouncing twice though, so the server on the end of all of this might not know it is suposed to server up information for sub1.domain.com . I’d have to know the actual domain names to tell you for sure, though.

If you want the redirection to be visible, you need to use an HTTP redirect or a meta refresh tag. Both you can search for and find multiple ways of doing it.
