Mysql.sock error

Getting an error constantly after a small crash that killed mysqls main files. I installed off of an SRPM from the update site and now mysqld starts but i constantly cannot connect using /var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock. I checked for the file and it does not exist. Any help is appreciated.

#locate mysql.sock

Or
