Windows 8 "Modern" theme?

Hey, I wanna see it!

you can check it out at http://getuikit.com, or contact me, and I can demo it for you. You have my skype above.

My idea of a new template is to use UIkit as the UI framework.
Implement the customizer in the same way as YOOtheme have done in their WARP 7 framework: http://www.yootheme.com/demo/joomla
In Warp, the administrator can create custom styles in the customizer, and change sizes, colors, effects etc in the customizer, and the finished style is saved as variables in a style.less file.
The less file gets compiled in to regular css when the administrator saves the style in the customizer.

I would also like to exchange the rrd/cacti graphs with raphael.js interactive graphs: http://raphaeljs.com/

I also want to remove the iframes and tables that are present in the current template… they give me a dirty feeling.

I would be able to accomplish most of this if I could only sort out how to override the quickmenu.tpl, _required/quicksearch.tpl etc files, that currently isn’t supported by the template system.
This is also the reason why I haven’t gotten far with the bootworx template. As it stands now, the customization possibilities are just too restricted. I have submitted a ticket about this to iworx support (#XVV-371149).
Step 2 would be to rewrite the client/server side js to replace YUI with jQuery.

Personally I don’t like smarty, I prefer pure PHP code with variables, arrays and OOP functions. But it is possible to work with smarty.

I don’t use skype. Feel free to PM me here

I had a nice talk with Trevor yesterday. And I now have what I need to get started with my implementation.
I have started with gridding the HTML mockup: http://evanion.github.io/InterKit/
The style is the default ‘gradient’ style of uikit. It will be possible to change and update in the future.
The github project can be found here: https://github.com/Evanion/InterKit

You can see the progress at: http://evanion.github.io/InterKit/
I’m setting the design in a HTML mockup first since it’s easier to test and change.

Hi Evanion

I had a look yesterday and it looks good so far, clean and easy. I especially like the addition of extra server information status, i.e. drive rate, but I would prefer myself if only the admin could see the additional information, but I’m not sure if this is possible

It’s just my opinion though

Many thanks

John

What your seeing right now, is the nodeworx dashboard. Interworx already have separate dashboards for system admins, resellers and customers.

If you want icons made I can make some.

Please, feel free to contribute.
I’m using uikit framework, that ships with fontawesome: http://fontawesome.io/icons/
I really miss some IT centered icons in the font, so I highly recommend that you contribute to the fontawesome project, that way, your effort won’t just benefit this project, but hundreds of other projects as well.

And please, feel free to contribute to the InterKit project with ideas, feature requests etc here: https://github.com/Evanion/InterKit/issues?state=open
You can also download the github page branch and start working on your own screen. When you feel like you have something worth showing, just send a pull request.
The more people that contribute, the better the product will be, and the faster we will have results. We are all busy people, but everyone can contribute, even if it’s just by posting a simple though or idea.

Cool ideas.

Evanion (and others),

Be sure to take a look at the Git / GitDeploy suggestion on the InterWorx Ideas page!

Seems you may have some good ideas to add in the comments regarding how it could be implemented.

Jon

For everone else, hacman is talking about this suggestion: http://www.interworx.com/ideas/git-gitdeploy/

The git deploy suggestion is separate from this project, as it’s a new feature to InterWorx, rather then a reskin of the interface. But yes, I do support the git deploy idea.

Hi Evanion

I hope you don’t mind but I’ve replied to your GitHub, unfortunately it’s not easy to see how to post comments, so I’m sorry if I’ve done it wrong.

Your answer above answer one of my thoughts, thank you and I missed adding the following

Ability to mass email or notify account holders ie siteworx nodeworx by admin

Please feel free to disregard any of my thoughts

Lastly, do you think it might not be better to keep ideas for you within iw forum, so that it has a wider audience. Just a thought.

Many thanks

John

Thats OK, you did just fine.
A mass email function would rather be something for the billing system I think.
We use WHMCS ourselves at the moment, but we aren’t satisfied with how it works, and it’s hard to redesign, or build an interactive site for the customers.
The connection with InterWorx tends to break for customers, creating additional support tickets… to the point that we have started to recommend customers to login directly to SiteWorx.

We plan on building a new billing and support system in Joomla with connection to Interworx on our new site. There is already CRM, Billing and Ticket systems available in joomla, we just need to create the appropriate plugins to interconnect them correctly.

there are two connection components available for WHMCS in joomla. But both are unstable, and just another point of possible failure. We want to minimize the amount of system that we run in our environment, since the customers are having problems understanding where they should go.

Right now, the full authentication flow looks as following:
Joomla > J!WHMCS (or Integrator 3) > WHMCS > Interworx
That is a lot of systems that can go wrong. So in the future we plan to bring it down to the following:
Joomla > Interworx

Internally in joomla we will use a billing solution, a CRM solution, a Ticket solution, and a project management system. Since they are native joomla apps, we don’t have to worry about connection issues, and system failures in the same way.

— About discussing InterKit ----------------------------
I’m open to discussing it both here and on the GitHub. Tracking issues and ideas are a lot easier on github, where you have more control than on a forum, with connections to the data, letting you associate a commit with an issue. tagging something with labels etc.
On a forum thread stuff tends to be lost in the discussion. But, please feel free to post your thoughts and Ideas here. If I see something worth considering, I will add it to the issue tracker on GitHub.

Hi Evanion

Many thanks, and I’ll use GitHub, which I’ve uploaded some screen shots, and sorry, I was just thinking about a wider iw user audience for ideas.

Also, whmcs, as you’ll know is now cpanel, and the latest update has caused our whmcs to stop working for none admin logon/viewing. So I’ll have to sort that one later, but I thought for a while when cpanel took over whmcs, they would develop more for cpanel then any other cp, ofcourse I could be wrong sorry.

The actual point I was trying to make was to do the same notification as iw upgrade shows, where it shows important notifications and ideally would like the same ability to put system wide or chosen reseller/siteworx user notifications rather then email, albeit email might work better or be easier.

I take your point over billing software, but there will be a number of iw owners who don’t use a billing system or just simply manually setup iw accounts.

It’s just my thoughts so please ignore if you think I’m wrong, I don’t want to take it off topic.

Many thanks

John

not a fan of Windows 8 myself but I do like the metro feel, would be nice to see what the guys could come up with.

Like Licesecart i rly do not like so much W8, it`s ok but nothing special. But this one looks good and I wuld like to see the icons and more.
Good job.

do you still use it W8?
