WordPress 3.2 will *REQUIRE* PHP 5.2

And Wordpress 3.2 is released… still no PHP 5.2+ on Interworx ofcourse.

We’re running a hosting company and we’re kind screwed with Interworx at the moment. A lot of customers are running Wordpress and will probably wanna use WP 3.2.

I’m realy wondering why you guys still havent been able to get the newest PHP versions as a default on Interworx… Is it so hard?

Our official position on this, as with nearly all packages, is to support and use the packages provided by the Linux distro. In your case, it’s less of a question of why InterWorx hasn’t done it, and more a question of why (I’m guessing) CentOS 5.6 hasn’t done it.

For every customer wishing we’d just do it, there’s at least one that would be upset if we sprung an upgrade on them - their customers’ scripts would have incompatibilities, so they would stop working, and we’d have a huge mess on our hands.

Here are instructions for installing an InterWorx-provided PHP 5.2 or 5.3. Enjoy!
