Is there a way to run a reverse proxy with apache+nginx (similar to vesta) to make sites faster?
Will that be very custom and non-supported?

I believe but could be wrong sorry, that some IW users already use ngix as a proxy.
I do not but you may also want to take a look at Litespeed but again, I think this maybe not fully supported
I think ngix maybe on the roadmap
