thanks Jenna, ive asked them via ticket, and they have responded that its ok if they manage the core system, and i can then install the beta at my own risk which i think should be fine as we only have 1 site/account/user (live site and stage site - nothing actually on the server yet). can i use my existing license code for interworx 7 to install interworx myself on a fresh almalinux 9 server?
Hello–
If the IW7 server is going to stay active (so you have the live IW7 server and the IW8 server for testing), you will not be able to use your current key on both servers, as that will take down NodeWorx on the IW7 server–the license can only be used on one server at a time. If this is the situation, if you submit a ticket, I can give you a demo key to use for testing the new server, if you’d like.
If you are replacing the IW7 server with the IW8 server, yes, you can apply your current license to the new server, as the licenses are not version-specific.
If the IP address is different on the new server, and you try to apply the existing license, you may get an error saying “this license is active on a different IP”. Did you purchase your license directly from us, or was that also provided by LW?
If it was purchased directly from us, you can change the license binding, yourself: How to: Change the IP Binding of an InterWorx License — InterWorx documentation
If the license was provided by LW, you’d need to ask them to clear the license binding for you, so you can apply it to the new server.
Thanks,
-Jenna
thanks Jenna thats great. The current server is about to be wiped to go to alma 9, but ive copied the key which is on the current panel and came as part of the package.
as they dont have their own image yet ive got to install interworx on the newly installed machine when done.
i did a test upgrade on the current alma 8 server and it worked perfectly by the way.
looking forward to having a more in-depth look about shortly!
thanks again,
Dan
