Operating under suPHP Ability to view sites before domain propagate

One of the issues of operating “PHP Mode: PHP Scripts run as SiteWorx user” (aka suPHP) is the “servers IP” / “~”
(the tilde) “unix username” combination no longer works.

Meaning before a domain propagates a client can use on a non-suPHP server, for an example, http://100.100.100.100/~anyouser to view and work and design a web site before it goes active.

Yes, fully understand that one could use the “pointer domain” which I have done many of times in past(if you have an extra domain name laying around), or change the c://Windows/System32/drivers/etc/hosts on my local windows PC to point a domain to the new server to allow you to work on the new site before going live.

But what I do not have control over is the clients wanting this capability (mainly the web designers), they complain and I have to move them to a cPanel server instead (a bummer).

Hopefully this issue will be resolved in a upcoming release.

Roy - this problem is indeed resolved in the upcoming 4.7 release. It’s just a couple days away now.

Paul, I really do not like the ask these type of questions, I just fringe when I do. But here goes anyway. Do you know the status of IW 4.7? Mainly interested in the ability for clients to see their web site files before web site goes active, several clients have been inquiring about this since the change to suPHP.

Thanks.

Roy

Just replying to my own question. The http://<IP Address>/~domainco that allows clients the capability to view their sites before the domain propagates was indeed corrected in InterWorx version 4.7 and works well.
