Question about quotas done the wrong way

I’m accustomed to CentOS VPS setups with no /home partition or if /home existed it was a directory. So for a new Alma 8 VPS I assumed the same and used / for setting quotas.

While the installation script was running I spotted a message saying “/home is not a directory” meaning /home must have been a partition. Either way, since /home is converted to /chroot/home, quotas for Siteworx accounts seem to be set and output from quota -g user looks ok.

What nags me is how quotas incorrectly set for / might affect the remainder of the partition if at all. Should I just let it go or try again the right way? Advice is appreciated, especially if I’m misunderstanding any of this.

Happy New Year everybody!

Hi

Happy new year

A quick read suggests it should be fine but I would make sure home is the largest partition

Many thanks

Thank you, that helps, and /hold is largest.
