RESOLVED 2/17/2025 Known issue with Rocky Linux 9 support

Due to an incompatibility between Rocky Linux 9 packages and those provided by EPEL, the following known issues currently exist with Rocky Linux 9 support:

  • Installing InterWorx 8 on Rocky Linux 9 is not currently possible
  • OS-level updates on Rocky Linux 9 servers are failing. This may trigger the problem detector in NodeWorx under Server > Server Health
  • Automatic InterWorx updates on Rocky Linux 9 servers, which are triggered by the InterWorx daily cron, are failing. The dev team is investigating a way to mitigate this, however, the current work around is to update InterWorx manually at the CLI with the following:
    yum update ‘*.iworx.*’

Note: EL9 support and IW8 are still in Public Beta and are considered “at own risk” for use on production servers.

The dev team is closely monitoring the existing upstream bug report, and we will provide updates when we have further information: 2343682 – EPEL package iptables-services prevents iptables-libs update

In the meantime, for any new IW8 installations, we recommend using Rocky Linux 8, or Alma Linux 8 or 9, for the time being.

Epel updated their repos over the weekend, and the installation and update issues with Rocky 9 are confirmed to be resolved.

Thank you for the update Jenna, appreciated
