Round Cube integration

I was wondering if it would be possible to intergrate roundcube ( http://www.roundcube.net/ )webmail to work globally for all email accounts like domain.com/webmail does and brings up horde. Also is it possible to make it mail.allsites.com or webmail.allsites.com?

I am going to try and answer this one for you;

I have never looked at roundcube and dont know how it would ‘talk’ to the interworx/server authentication, but if you get that working, then making /webmail or /roundcube point to it is pretty easy. Best place to start is /etc/httpd/conf.d/iworx.conf and make the alias work. Then, and I am sure it will be unsupported, you can put the files to run on the iworx instance of apache. And that should be all.

With regards to the mail. & webmail. it is something we have considered, and I believe one of our guys had looked at quite a good solution, however at the moment I cannot recall the method. There is however due to be a DNS Template sstem in the new release which may help.

Hope this helps.

Curt, roundcube is just an IMAP client so it should be pretty easy to get working. You can install it in a new SiteWorx account if you want and get it working and then simply edit the iworx.conf as EverythingWeb laid out to get the pointer working.

Regarding mail.sites.com / webmail.sites.com you can set those up as well with some apache rewrites & proxy setup but I don’t have an explicity how to (even off the top of my head) but it is definitely possible.

Chris

I just wanted to make sure there hasn’t been any issues as it hasn’t been talked about. Thanks a bunch for your help.

Curt

Someone else suggested RoundCube integration about 6 moths ago but we all agreed that we didn’t need three webmail solutions. It is nice though

Why not?

Yeah, Id add it… I love it

Its been almost 2 1/2 years since the last post, and RoundCube went to Stable on Dec 30, 2008.

I would like to see this added to InterWorx in the next release.

Great, that’s good to hear that it’s finally declared “stable”.

I would also like to have roundcube on interworx’s webmail (may be as default). Mind that cpanel already has roundcube (guess since cpanel 11).

Come-on iworx guys, hire some developers and get back on track.

PS:
And what about AtMail Open (http://www.atmail.org) ?
I have seen the demo (http://www.atmail.org/demo.php) and it’s good.

I had no idea that there was a Open version of AtMail. AtMail is very good stuff, I have been watching the development for the past 3 or so years. Thanks for posting that info.

There’s a list of priorities, and these new webmail clients are on it, they’re just not the absoluste first on the list. But don’t worry, they’re coming.

By “these new webmail clients” & “they’re coming”, I think you meant AtMail Open edition is also on your list.

I think time has come to ditch both horde & squirrel and have roundcube & atmail-open. May be you could retain squirrel for some more days, but nobody needs the horde’s calender/groupware/etc/etc I guess. What is needed is just webmail.

I too didn’t know about the open edition, but just Googled for “php webmail” and found atmail-open on the 6th position. RoundCube is on top, squirrel is just behind and horde is not on the first page.

But, yahoo and live searches tell a different story, but nobody likes them I guess.

Hey guys. I’ve successfully integrated roundcube.

I was nearly successful at integrating it right within the /home/interworx/lib area (where horde and squirrel are) but unfortunately the iworx copy of php is too old for the latest stable version of roundcube (which requires php 5.2 or higher).

However, as I did say I was successful, I managed to get it working by installing a copy into a SiteWorx account as mentioned by someone else in this thread.

Please go here for the guide: http://interworx.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2901

For the record, Roundcube will be included in the next release.

That’s great news!

I’m sure this is posted somewhere, but when is the next update scheduled to be released?

The InterWorx guys don’t give release dates anymore, but it is coming soon. I would hope we’ll see it before the middle of the year (just my wild speculation).

Can’t wait for this new version! Looks like it’s gonna be huge.
