ScriptWorx: Custom Installs?

I am purchasing Interworx soon, but have a question about ScriptWorx. Can I set it up to pull down a custom distribution that resides on my server? My planned hosting business focusses on installing my own software or heavily modified open source packages. Can Scriptworx handle this?

Thanks,

Doug

Hi Doug-

With the next version of the software, you will be able to add your own custom script to scriptworx. It involves a bit of php coding, but it’s fairly straightforward. The documentation for doing so can be found here:

(NOTE: This will not work until the next version of the software is released, and those docs are a bit out of date, but much of them still apply)

If you have any specific questions, I’d be happy to answer them.

Next Release?

Dustin,

If I read those docs correctly, it can be done now through a hack. So the next release will bring this hack into the core in a solid, tested way? If so,when is the next release scheduled?

Thanks,

Doug

PS: You may think about giving ScriptWorx a more visible presence on the website.

Hi Doug-

No, it can’t be done with the current version through a hack, there have been fundamental changes from 2.1.2 to the next version. The next version has been (and continues to be) extensively tested. What part of the documentation gave the impression that this was a hacked solution? I’d like to know so that I can tighten down the docs.

As for a release date, it’s company policy to not disclose release dates.

We will be increasing the ScriptWorx presence on the site in the near future.

Dustin,

There was nothing specific to the docs that made me think it could be hacked. I did not think those were pre-release docs, so I thought it was explaining how to do it now, as opposed to the new release. My mistake, not yours.

So if you cannot give a release date, can you anser the following? If I purchased an owned IW license this week, will the new SIteWorx upgrade be out within my three month support and upgrade window? If not, what is the upgrade path for owned licensees?

Doug

Already on that

When the site was launched the intention was to promote our new (at the time) clustering capability, but now we’re working on fleshing out both the docs and main website to cover more of our features – and ScriptWorx is on the top of that list.

Hi Doug-

The new version should be out within the upgrade window.
