Thunderbird/Outlook SMTP setup

When a user has more than one email account do they need to use a separate smtp account for each email?

In Thunderbird they allow a default SMTP server but it asks for username/password with the server settings.

For example, a single person has support@domain1.com, sales@domain1.com, sales@domain2.com and support@domain2.com. They all point to the same mail server, the only difference is the username/passwords.

The smtp settings in Thunderbird are setup with support@domain1.com as the username/password.

Is this all that’s needed, or do you need to create another smtp server for each email? Can sales@domain1.com send outgoing mail as sales@domain1.com even though he logs onto the smtp server as support@domain1.com?

You don’t need to, but you can.

Once you have multiple servers, you can assign them as needed.
